Data analyses à la carte

Retrieve GIS data

Code: ENVMETA01

Retrieve environmental and climatic variables at multiple locations, such as sea surface temperature, chlorophyl-A, precipitation and solar insolation. These data may be useful e.g. for environmental regression analyses and hypothesis testing. Sources include satellite imagery, remote sensing etc. The client provides list of desired coordinates and dates.

▾ Overview of provided analysis

Given a collection of user-provided geographic coordinates and dates (henceforth "samples"), we query our extensive collection of GIS data to estimate environmental variables for those samples. Available variables include:

  • Night-time sea surface temperature (daily resolution, ocean locations)
  • Snow-water-equivalent depth (daily average, terrestrial locations)
  • Precipitation rate (mm/hr, daily average)
  • Precipitation rate (mm/day, monthly average)
  • Surface temperature anomaly (monthly average)
  • Vegetation index (monthly average, terrestrial locations)
  • Solar insolation rate (monthly average)
  • Sea surface chlorophyll-A concentration (monthly average, ocean locations)
  • Sea surface concentration of nitrate, phosphate and silicate (monthly resolution, multi-year averages, ocean locations)

Extracted variables are delivered as a standard CSV or TSV file, with rows representing input samples and each column corresponding to a separate variable. In addition, we provide a thorough Materials & Methods writeup for use in your publications, as well as basic overview visualizations.
